英中對照：語言模糊性翻譯精確法

2012年11月1日，據譯雅馨翻譯公司獲悉，文學語言本身的含蓄、生動以及某種不確定性，不確定性就是模糊性。首先體現(xiàn)在語義的多層附加義。講究的是“言有盡而意無窮”。其次是語義的矛盾性。以下是翻譯公司在模糊性翻譯方面所列舉的英中對照翻譯案例。

1.模糊法

模糊法指的是把表達模糊含義的英語譯為含有模糊意義的漢語。例如：

The idea of an internai" body clock”should not be too surprising. If the 24-hour rhythm is interrupted, most people experience, more or less, unpleasant side effects.

體內“生物鐘”的觀點并不令人感到太大的驚奇。如果24 小時的節(jié)奏受到了干擾，大多數人都或多或少地有種種不愉快的 感覺。

該參議員很少受賄，是嗎？

2.精確法

精確法指的是將英語中表示模糊意義的表達用表示精確意義 的漢語表達出來。例如：

This means that a diesel shunter can work continuously right round the clock, if nccessary, and that main line diesels can be rostered to continuous runs lasting for well over a day.

如果將“a day”譯為“一天”，那么會導致語義模糊，讀者 有可能理解為“白天”，但是從“right round the clock”可以知道 它實際上指的是“白天和晚上”，因此在譯為漢語時應該將此模糊 意義清晰化。譯文為：也就是說，內燃調車機車能夠不分晝夜連 續(xù)運行。如果有必要，千線內燃機車連續(xù)運行時間可大大超過一 晝夜。

如果將“dimensions”譯為“面積”，“大小”都不夠完整， 譯為“體積”也欠妥帖，形象性、直觀性不夠。因此，可將其具 體清晰化以避免語義模糊。全句可譯為：路基就是上面鋪著道砟、 枕木和鋼軌的底基。路基有兩種類型，即路墊和路堤。路基應堅 固、排水性好并有足夠的面積和厚度。
